AREA worked as a sub-consultant to Urban Engineers and provided design services performing load rating of the stone arch in accordance with AREMA for the specified E80 railroad loading along with backfill over the arch and proposed concrete and pedestrian platform loading. Rating was done using STAAD Pro software and in-house spreadsheets. Responsibilities also included stability and strength analysis of the stone spandrel and retaining walls to determine whether they can support the additional loads applied by a high-level platform.
