AREA worked as a sub-consultant to Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. (JMT) and provided construction inspection services for Rt. 208, 46, 206 Milling and Paving operations. Our firm provided a construction inspector on this project which required ensuring slurry seal machines are calibrated and certified. Construction inspectors were also required to inspect test strips to ensure surfaces showed no sign of distress before actual placement of slurry seal using a slurry seal machine. AREA was also responsible of verifying that the machine takes a straight, even line with minimal number of passes to cover the entire pavement and that no drag marks are present due to oversize aggregate or dirty rubbers of the machine.
